How to measure a paid listing

PUBLIC / VERIFIED

Measure paid discovery using views, verified outbound clicks, CTR, tagged destination sessions and business outcomes without mixing definitions.

SHORT ANSWER

Measure a paid listing as a funnel: listing views, verified outbound clicks, tagged destination sessions and your own conversions. Keep each stage separate so a click is never reported as a lead or sale.

Use one funnel, not one vanity number

The first useful measure is whether people saw the listing. The second is whether a real visitor chose to open it. The destination owner must then measure sessions, enquiries, registrations or sales on their own site.

DISIAR publishes listing views and filtered outbound clicks. It does not install tracking on listed destinations and therefore cannot claim what happened after the visitor left.

  • Listing CTR = verified outbound clicks divided by listing views.
  • Destination conversion rate = destination conversions divided by tagged destination sessions.
  • Cost per outcome = total placement spend divided by the outcome you actually measure.

Tag the destination link

Use campaign parameters that are readable and stable. A practical default is `utm_source=disiar`, `utm_medium=paid_discovery`, and a campaign name tied to the listing or launch. The card page includes a builder that produces a tagged destination URL without changing the public listing.

Analytics tools may group sessions differently, block known bots or apply privacy controls. Treat a difference between DISIAR outbound clicks and destination sessions as a measurement difference to investigate, not automatic proof that either side is wrong.

Read small samples carefully

A new listing can show an extreme CTR after only a handful of views. Record the sample size beside the rate and compare equivalent time windows. A 50% CTR from two views is not stronger evidence than a stable 6% rate from hundreds of views.

Use the public record and Stats page as transparent evidence of DISIAR activity, then use your destination analytics for business impact.
